Joanne Miller Rafferty

Abstract Artist Joanne Miller Rafferty is one of America's most popular contemporary artists. Even people who say they do not understand or like abstracts like her works. Joanne's splashes of vibrant color and quick line convey not just a lively style and pure technique, but her intense joy in her art and a deep appreciation for the abstractions found in the many faces of land, sky, and sea.

Her landscapes are layered in deep, rich colors with wonderful textures of exotic hand made papers, metallics, collage and minute glass beads. She builds from horizontal schemes and creates visual islands engulfed in color, handmade paper and golden string. You never know what will wash ashore.

Joanne received her art education at the Daemen College in Buffalo, New York where she received a B.S. in Art Education. She received a Permanent Certification in Art Education from the State University of New York at Buffalo and has taught in Middleport and Amherst, New York. She is a volunteer
on the executive board at the art center in her hometown.

Joanne has enjoyed a career spanning thirty years. She is listed in Who's Who in American Art; 2000 Outstanding Artists and Designers of the 20th Century; Strathmore Who's Who; Mantle Fielding's Dictionary of American Painters, Sculptors and Engravers; and is a member of the National Association of Women Artists.

Joanne's work has been featured in numerous publications including Interior Design Magazine, New Jersey Magazine, Designer Specific, Art Business News, and Income Opportunities. The HBO series 'The Sopranos' also featured Ms. Rafferty's paintings as has 'All My Children' (ABC '98), 'Friends' (NBC '99), 'Everybody Loves Raymond' (CBS '01) and a 'PBS Design Special' (01). A long list of shows throughout the United States and awards in many juried exhibitions has honored her many years as a professional artist. Her original works are held in over 1,000 public and private collections.
