Known for his strong brush strokes, rich textures and vibrant colors, Barton brings a sense of joy and peace to each of his paintings. Barton devotes himself to each work in progress, to create a feeling of warmth and comfort. They echo the emotions and the desire for a life lived to the fullest. For Barton, painting is a way of life. He loves to spend spare moments combing areas for inspiration to use in future paintings. The coastal setting surrounding his home reflects his bright and lively perspective and encourages a focus on color and beauty. Each painting Barton does reveals something about him. He has a casual, engaging personality and is extremely enthusiastic about being a painter. Originally from New Hampshire, Barton's success as an artist began early; he was eight when his love for art began. His mother, an oil painter, inspired and encouraged him to paint. He was 15 when he sold his first painting of a covered bridge. During his junior year in high school, the White House Chief of Staff commissioned him to paint, "The Old Man in the Mountain". As Barton studied such masters as Van Gogh and Monet, his own style and reputation grew. Local merchants commissioned him to paint murals in their pups and storefronts, and residents purchased and commissioned artwork for their homes. After studying at Rhode Island School of Design, Barton desired to broaden his search for subject matter. He traveled to the West Coast, where his painting took on the style still seen today. Each of Barton's paintings capture more than just the viewers gaze. They are times remembered and days to come. They stop time and soften your heart. They draw you in and say, "Come, sit, relax." |
