"David Gerstein's style is his own. There is a witty and restrained humor, an inexhaustible colorfulness, and an astonishing expressive power.." "Gerstein breaks the frame, the stylistic conventions, and of course the familiar structure of the thematics of art." "Gerstein defeats every style, every artistic conception, easily takes in relevant items, mixes and crosses them, and displays them in a new and sober light."

David Gerstein's art is a persistent display of sensual color celebrating life and its fullness. Gerstein views his art as being situated on the border line between sculpture and painting. His images break out of the square and the frame and confer on the painting a new living space. Gerstein's painted objects have a life of their own. Gerstein gazes with a semi-ironic smile at our fervor-ridden reality - as though everything around him were merely atoms engaged in a mad race.
